Find Every Reddit Post That Shares the Same Link
Given one Reddit post, list every other post that submitted the same URL, in any subreddit. The list Reddit shows under "other discussions", as JSON.
/api/reddit/post/{id}/duplicates$0.0015 / callEvery other Reddit post that shares this post's link.
When one article, video or product page is posted to several subreddits, each post gets its own comments. Start from any one of those posts and this returns all the others, so you can read every conversation about the same link, not only the one you found first. It is the list Reddit shows on a post's "other discussions" tab.
A text post links to itself, so it usually has no duplicates. A link post shared widely can have dozens.
Path Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
id | string | Yes | Reddit post id (e.g. 1sgjld3). A t3_ prefix is optional. |
Query Parameters
| Parameter | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
sort | string | No | num_comments (default, most discussed first) or new |
crossposts_only | boolean | No | true returns only crossposts (of this post, or of any other post that shares its link) and leaves out independent submissions of the same URL |
limit | number | No | How many duplicates to return, 1-100 (default 100) |
This list is not paged. This endpoint reads the first 100 other discussions Reddit lists for the link, in one read, and after is always null. available says how many Reddit returned, so a smaller limit tells you how many you left out.
Example
curl -H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" \
"https://api.redditapis.com/api/reddit/post/1sgjld3/duplicates"const response = await fetch(
"https://api.redditapis.com/api/reddit/post/1sgjld3/duplicates",
{ headers: { Authorization: "Bearer TOKEN" } }
);
const { post, duplicates, available } = await response.json();import requests
response = requests.get(
"https://api.redditapis.com/api/reddit/post/1sgjld3/duplicates",
headers={"Authorization": "Bearer TOKEN"},
)
data = response.json()Response Shape
{
"post": { "...": "the original post, same shape as /api/reddit/post/{id}" },
"duplicates": [
{ "...": "each other post that shares the link, same post shape" }
],
"available": 35,
"after": null
}post is the post you asked about. duplicates holds the others, each in the same post shape as every other posts endpoint, so subreddit, num_comments and permalink are there to decide which conversation to open next with /api/reddit/post/{id}/comments.
